Cinquain Poetry

This week the students have been writing Cinquain poems. Some wrote about things they love and some wrote about Australian animals which fits in with our inquiry studies “My Place”.

A Cinquain Poem has a number of patterns but we chose two simple patterns as a guide to writing our poetry

Cinquain Pattern #1

Line1: One word

Line2: Two words

Line 3: Three words

Line 4: Four words

Line 5: One word

Cinquain Pattern #2

Line1: A noun – Title

Line2: Two adjectives describes the title

Line 3: Three -ing words

Line 4: A phrase or a feeling

Line 5: Another word for the noun

In addition to publishing their poems the students learnt about uploading pictures to the blog. They drew their animal in Tux Paint (a free drawing program that can be downloaded from the web) and then uploaded it to their post.

You can find the students’ poems under the Poetry Menu link. Why not leave a comment so that we know you’ve dropped by.
